Austin Nix

Lawyer

Prior to joining Platform Litigation, Austin ran his own legal practice focusing on criminal and regulatory offences, appearing in courthouses throughout the Lower Mainland. Austin regularly represents clients facing a wide range of criminal offences in our provincial courts. Austin also has experience acting as co-counsel and junior counsel on serious cases involving firearms, fentanyl and drug production, as well as murder.

Austin received his J.D. from the Bora Laskin Faculty of Law at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario, in 2019. He participated in the Arnup, Sopinka, and Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA) Cup Moots at both provincial and national levels. During law school, Austin dedicated much of his time to community service, volunteering at multiple public interest organizations in Thunder Bay and North Bay.

During law school, Austin completed a placement through Lakehead’s Integrated Practice Curriculum with the North Bay Crown Attorney’s Office in Northern Ontario. It was here where he gained invaluable experience learning how prosecutors conduct matters in all stages of proceedings.

Before law school, Austin earned two B.A.(Hons) degrees from Carleton University in Criminology & Criminal Justice and Law & Legal Studies while playing competitive lacrosse for the Carleton Ravens.

Austin grew up in Toronto, Ontario, and continues to play competitive lacrosse for the Coquitlam Adanacs.

Austin was called to the British Columbia bar in 2020.
